A Surrey couple driving a stolen vehicle were arrested Friday when they pulled into a parking lot where police were investigating a crime.

“Police checked the licence plate of the vehicle and determined that (it) had been stolen,” Chilliwack RCMP Const. Tracy Wolbeck said.

A small amount of drugs was also found, and both suspects were wanted on several warrants throughout the Lower Mainland, she said.

The male and female were arrested for possession of stolen property, and were scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Wolbeck said combating property crime is a high priority in the Chilliwack RCMP’s strategic plan and “it is being pursued very aggressively.”
