Police say a man arrested after the robbery of an Abbotsford jewelry store on New Year’s Day is also considered a suspect in several other crimes around the Fraser Valley.
Abbotsford Police say a man entered a jewelry store in Sevenoaks Shopping Centre around 6 p.m. on Jan. 1 and proceeded to select a variety of items with the help of a store employee. But instead of paying, the man pulled out a knife and demanded cash.
The man fled the store with the jewels and the money, while police and K-9 officers responded to the scene. A suspect was spotted in the mall parking lot and was arrested in a nearby restaurant parking lot after a short foot pursuit and tracking by the police dogs.
Abbotsford Police say they’ll be recommending robbery charges against the 28-year-old suspect. They also say the man was wanted for the robbery of a Chilliwack restaurant, and is considered a suspect in other robberies in the valley.
The man’s name won’t be released until charges are laid.
