Mission RCMP were called after a report of an armed robbery Friday on Grand Street.
Around 3 p.m. Jan. 31, a female walked into Stiletto Hair Studio, approached the counter and pointed what appeared to be a black handgun at a customer and an employee and demanded money.
The suspect reached into the till and found no cash, then tried to take a customer’s purse which led to a brief struggle, said Mission RCMP. The suspect got away with an iPhone and left the gun behind, which police later discovered was a painted toy.
A police dog found a suspect a short distance from the studio, laying in the bushes. She was arrested and remanded into custody.
Mission resident Amanda Bermingham, 23, has been charged with robbery with a firearm. Bermingham was also wanted on an outstanding warrant in Ontario for 19 offences related to property crimes and failing to comply with court orders.
