An arrest attempt turned violent when police apprehended a man wanted for firearms offences.
Three members of Nanaimo RCMP’s Street Crimes Unit and the suspect they were arresting sustained bumps and bruises when police tried to arrest Kristopher Wolfevillage, 38, at the 7-Eleven on Dover Road Tuesday and a struggle ensued that required help from several civilians to subdue him.
The officers and Volfevillage were treated by paramedics at the scene and did not require hospitalization. The civilians were uninjured.
Wolfevillage, who is being held in custody, will appear in Nanaimo provincial court April 14 for the firearms charges and again April 21 for charges resulting from the arrest which include several counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, uttering threats and mischief.
Investigators searched Volfevillage’s home after the arrest where they found a laptop, allegedly stolen during a break and enter in Parksville, cellphones and dismantled hard drives, break and enter paraphernalia including wigs, a balaclava, gloves, flashlights and break-in tools.
Wolfevillage was disguised in a wig and dark glasses at the time of his arrest.
