Vernon RCMP received a call shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday from a representative of Brandt Tractor in the 3100 block of 48th Avenue who reported an excavator had been stolen.

“One of our officers attended and spoke to the employee,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “He told police that sometime between 10 p.m. Wednesday night and 7 a.m. Thursday, someone broke the lock on the west fence, entered the compound – likely with a trailer – and stole a 2014 yellow with a grey boom 50G John Deere excavator.”

The value of this excavator is $90,000.

There is no video surveillance on-site, however the owner-dealer next door is checking their system.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen a vehicle, likely a truck and trailer with this unit, leave the yard between midnight and  4 a.m. to please call 250-545-7171.
