A man who refused two earlier psychiatric assessments was ordered to take part a third time by a provincial court judge.
James Richardson is charged with attempted murder, assault and two counts of sexual assault from a string of incidents stemming from May 9. Police stopped Richardson three times in two hours – the third time was when his girlfriend called officers after he allegedly tried to strangle her.
On July 6, Richardson was ordered back to a psychiatric hospital on the Lower Mainland for a third 30-day assessment. He is scheduled to appear back in court on Aug. 17.
