A new fundraiser takes place in Abbotsford on Friday, Nov. 29 to raise funds for the Abbotsford Food Bank and Christmas Bureau.
The Ramada Toys for Tots Christmas Breakfast runs from 6 to 9 a.m. at the Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre in partnership with Envision Financial.
The public is invited to drop by during those hours and, with the donation of cash or a new toy, they will receive a free buffet breakfast.
For those who don’t have time to come in, there will be a drive-thru in the parking lot to drop off donations and enjoy a free coffee and donut sponsored by Tim Hortons.
There will also be a visit from Santa and live entertainment, including a photo booth and music by the Westcoast Fiddlers and the Travis Thuro Band.
Food bank director Dave Murray said the number of people that the food bank serves on a monthly basis continues to grow, and this Christmas is expected to draw record numbers, including an estimated 1,200 children.
The food bank operates as the Christmas Bureau during the holiday season, providing food and gifts to families in need.
”Though the need is year-round, the work we do through the Christmas Bureau is particularly special – being able to provide a Christmas experience to a family that otherwise would go without is incredibly rewarding,” he said.
