Hope was beginning to look like a truck stop Friday morning as hundreds of transport truck sat idle, awaiting the reopening of the three major highways that fork from the community.
A combination of bad weather, avalanche control and major traffic accidents closed Highways 1, 3 and 5 Thursday.
Trucks were lined up along Flood Hope Road after they ran out of room at the Flying J Truck Stop.
Highway 3 opened Friday morning following work to control avalanches in the region.
Highway 5 was estimated to remained closed no later than 2 p.m. after a vehicle accident closed the highway in both directions between Hope and Merrit.
Highway 1, meanwhile, was closed in both directions from Jackass Mountain Summit to the junction of Highway 12 due to the high avalanche danger.
There is no estimated time of reopening, says DriveBC.
