Traffic heading into Victoria is jammed into one lane on the Trans-Canada at Spencer Road after a commercial truck crashed into concrete barriers on Friday.
The commercial hauler lost control and plowed into the heavy barriers about 10 metres past Spencer Road, knocking several into a grassy bank and one through a sound barrier fence. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The driver appeared uninjured, although BC Ambulance paramedics checked him out.
It’s unclear if speed or rainy conditions played a factor in the 11:15 a.m. crash. West Shore RCMP and the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement officers are on scene.
The southbound Trans-Canada at Spencer Road is expected to be one lane until past noon. A tow truck had to be called from Duncan to move the truck off the highway.
