Brights lights mark the beginning of the 52nd annual Abbotsford International Airshow today (Friday) starting at 5 p.m.
This is the debut twilight show for the annual event, which runs through to Sunday.
The evening’s entertainment is set to feature the pyrotechnical acrobatics of Team Rocket, and Dan Buchanan, while others – like the Jet Schoolbus and the CF-18 Hornet – will put on shows designed for the evening. The night aerobatic display of Matt Younkin’s Twin Beech will be illuminated by dozens of external lights.
Gates for the twilight show open to the public at 4:30 p.m. with demos getting underway at 5 p.m., featuring most of the acts of the day shows, including the Snowbirds. The show concludes with fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
Team Rocket, which consists of pilots Ken Fowler and Eric Hansen flying planes spouting pyrotechnics into the dark sky, attracted plenty of attention earlier this summer when they gave Vancouver residents a preview of their acrobatic show.
Buchanan’s night show also leans heavily on pyrotechnics and fireworks as he pilots his motorized hang glider in the night sky.
The CF-18 Hornet will team with AV8FX for a demonstration and simulated bombing run over the airport.
The fun will return in the daylight tomorrow and Sunday, with gates opening at 9 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m.
