Two men rescued after flipping car near Penticton

Police say speed a factor when Sunfire rolled on bush road just east of the city

Two men had to be rescued from a car that flipped Wednesday on its way down Beaverdell Road.

Penticton RCMP spokesman Cpl. Martin Trudeau said the white Pontiac Sunfire rolled around 5 p.m. as it sped around a corner on the gravel road just past the Lost Moose Lodge east of the city.

He said Mounties have ruled out alcohol as a contributor to the crash, but “speed was believed to be a factor.” Police aren’t expecting to recommend charges.

The 19-year-old occupants of the mangled Sunfire were extricated by members of the Penticton Fire Department and taken to hospital as a precaution.
