No foul play is suspected in the death of a man found in a wooded area off the Lougheed Highway Monday afternoon.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene, near Stave Lake Street, around 4 p.m. on Dec. 30 to assist an unresponsive male.
“The male was quickly confirmed as deceased,” said Mission RCMP Sgt. Shaun Wright. “There was a makeshift shelter located near the body and it appears that the deceased had been camping at that location.”
Wright also noted there were no signs of trauma on the body and police believe the man’s death was likely the result of a drug overdose.
An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause of death.
The victim was in his 30s and from the Mission area, according to police, who are not releasing his name until next of kin has been notified.
