The only Comox Valley runner in Monday’s Boston Marathon finished 10 minutes before two explosions — and says she is safe.
Dr. Janet Green of Courtenay was one of about 27,000 competitors
— including 2,078 Canadians — who were in the iconic event, which was rocked by two explosions near the finish line.
“I just saw the smoke and the noise and all that kind of stuff but I wasn’t hurt,” says Green from Boston. “I was having a slow day but I’m glad I wasn’t having a slower day.”
Two people were killed and dozens injured, according to Boston police.
