The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has indicated that it will release more information as it becomes available regarding human remains found in Abbotsford on Saturday afternoon.
The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) issued a press release on Saturday, saying that “what appears to be human remains” had been found at about 2 p.m. in a wooded area on a property in the 30900 block of Downes Road, just west of Townline Road.
Abbotsford Police patrol officers, forensic identification members and major crimes detectives were called in.
The remains were then confirmed as being human, and IHIT was called in on Sunday.
Further forensic work is required to answer questions such as the cause and approximate date of death and the identity of the individual.
IHIT has said it will provide updated information as more facts are established.
