The man arrested in connection with the death of Daniel Levesque is charged with second degree murder, the Victoria Police announced Thursday.
Crown counsel swore the charge against Joshua Tyler Bredo, 26, on Wednesday, two weeks after an Aug. 3 incident in a Cormorant Street condo left two men bleeding from apparent stab wounds.
Levesque, 20, later died in hospital. He moved to Victoria just three months earlier to pursue a music career.
Bredo appeared in court Thursday via video link and did not make a bail application. His next court appearance was scheduled for Sept. 1.
Since his arrest Aug. 3 – which happened immediately after his discharge from hospital – Bredo has been in police custody.
Levesque’s death has sent shockwaves throughout Revelstoke. A celebration of his life at the community centre last week attracted about 1,000 people.
