Thetis Lake Park is closed as police search for two suspects, possibly armed.

Manhunt underway for two males, possibly armed, near Lost Lake Road and Thetis Lake areas

UPDATE: West Shore RCMP are searching for two male suspects who fled from police on Lost Lake Road in Highlands earlier today. The search has been expanded to include the Thetis Lake area.

The suspects are wearing dark clothing and are believed to be armed and dangerous.

Police were looking to speak with the suspect regarding an ongoing investigation when they fled into the bush.

West Shore RCMP are being assisted by the Emergency Response Team, an RCMP helicopter, the Saanich police canine unit and the Saanich and Victoria police department.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area. The local detachment has also been in contact with School District 62 and school officials in the area.

 

 

Original: Thetis Lake Park is now closed. An unconfirmed report has one suspect spotted in the vicinity of the lake.

Two male suspects could now be in the Thetis Lake area, one is believed to be barefoot. Both could possibly be armed. Police are asking the public to avoid the area if possibly. The Emergency Response Team, K9 units and a helicopter are aiding in the search.

Highlands residents in the area of Lost Lake Road are being asked to stay in their homes and lock the doors. Others are being asked to avoid the area. If you spot anyone or anything suspicious in the area, please phone 911.

For safety reasons, police are also asking that no pictures of their locations during this incident be posted on the Internet.
