Public schools throughout Chilliwack were closed Monday as the city dug out from the latest winter storm.
The Chilliwack school district announced Monday morning that students here would have a snow day. Unity Christian is also closed for the day, citing heavy snow and freezing rain, as is the UFV Hope Centre.
All other UFV campuses are open.
Snow began falling Sunday evening and continued overnight.
A snowfall warning for the region remained in affect Monday morning.
Environment Canada says although warmer weather has arrived, the threat of more snow and the possibility of freezing rain persists.
Environment Canada is warning motorists and pedestrians to use caution. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery,” it said.
