An overturned SUV closed a long section of the Channel Parkway Tuesday afternoon after a collision at the Green Avenue intersection.
The Parkway was closed in both directions, from the Skaha Lake intersection to Warren Avenue after the collision shortly after 2:30 p.m. Witnesses report that a southbound compact car, attempting to turn left off the Parkway onto Green Avenue, was clipped by a northbound silver SUV that is alleged to have driven through the yellow light.
The SUV, reportedly a Cadillac Escalade, ended up on its roof about 100 yards from the intersection after the driver lost control. A witness said the SUV rolled three times before coming to a stop in the southbound lane of the Parkway.
Emergency service, including the RCMP, firefighters and two ambulances attended the scene. At this point, injuries from the accident appear to be minor, with the occupants of the SUV all getting out of the vehicle unaided, though one woman appeared to have a broken hand.
The compact car appeared to have taken minor damage to the front end.
