A snowfall warning issued for the West Kootenay and Boundary regions by Environment Canada yesterday has been continued.
“An intense Pacific frontal system stalled over the British Columbia Interior will continue to bring snow heavy at times to parts of the southern interior. The system will move eastward into Alberta tonight with snow tapering off,” read the warning.
“Over the West Kootenay and Fernie areas heavy snow will continue as a further 15 to 25 cm can be expected by this evening. Lesser amounts are forecast for Boundary and Kootenay Lake with further snowfall of 10 to 15 cm expected.”
Upwards of 10 cm of snow and 30 km/hr winds are forecast for Grand Forks.
Environment Canada said that the winds would become light by noon time and a high of 2 C was forecast. The snow is expected to become mixed with rain by this afternoon.
The snowfall warning issued yesterday estimated that the West Kootenay and Boundary could see 15 to 20 cm of snow by Thursday morning.
