Fire crews were called to a pair of wildfires Monday.
The first was one-hectare fire at the end of Rogers Road on the North Shore caused by a tree that fell on the area’s main transmission lines Monday morning, according to a release by the Regional District of Central Kootenay.
Firefighters from Balfour-Harrop and the North Shore Volunteer Fire Department were involved, as well as six forestry workers.
Then in the afternoon, Nelson Fire Rescue was called to put out a brush fire on Giveout Creek Road. The fire, which is believed to have been started by campfire or smoking materials, was mostly out by the time crews arrived.
