Upgrades made to Highway 97A

Motorists travelling through Spallumcheen are benefiting from safety improvements made to the Eagle Rock intersection on Highway 97A.

The upgrades include the construction of a protected T-intersection with an acceleration lane for motorists turning left on to Highway 97A, as well as a right turn lane and illumination at the new intersection.

“This project improves safety for all motorists including local drivers, tourists, and commercial trucks,” said Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo.

“These improvements will help reduce the risk of serious crashes, and also increase the reliability of the highway for commercial vehicles that move goods to market.”

Okanagan Aggregates was awarded a $1.9 million contract for the work. The total value of the project is $2.2 million.
