It’s a good thing the Vernon police officer decided to run the licence plate.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, an officer noticed a car driving in the downtown core. When the officer ran the plate, he discovered the registered owner should be displaying an “N” on the back of the vehicle.
“The car was stopped and when the officer spoke to the driver, he noticed a bag containing suspected crack cocaine in the vehicle,” said Gord Molendyk, Vernon RCMP spokesperson.
The driver and passenger were arrested, and as the officer was conducting his investigation a set of brass knuckles and 10 individually wrapped baggies containing suspected crack cocaine were located and seized.
The two suspects, a man and woman, both residents of Vernon, are expected to appear in court at a later date to answer to charges in relation to the drugs and a prohibited weapon.
