Updated at 2:03 p.m. A 51-year-old Vernon man has been taken into custody by police after a bomb threat at Lake City Casinos Thursday morning.

“He’s expected to face charges of uttering threats,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

Updated at 12:50 p.m. Police report that the area surrounding Lake City Casino is back open after a report of a bomb scare this morning.

Vernon RCMP are on-scene at Lake City Casino on Anderson Way after receiving a report of a bomb threat at the facility.

The report came in shortly before 11:30 a.m.

“Our officers are taking the appropriate actions after the report of the threat came in,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

The casino and the entire westside block has been evacuated.

Reports say a police service dog with explosives training has been requested.
