Vernon housing starts climb

Vernon’s housing starts went from four units in January 2011 to 16 last month

There’s been an upswing in home construction.

Vernon’s housing starts went from four units in January 2011 to 16 last month.

“Lower construction costs and lot prices have enabled builders to better compete with the existing home market and attract price sensitive buyers,” said Paul Fabri, with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Of the 16 units, six were single-detached and 10 were multiple units.
