A Vernon man is in critical condition after being stabbed in Kelowna.
On Tuesday at 10:59 p.m., Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a man who had been stabbed and was suffering significant blood loss.
“A Good Samaritan reportedly encountered the victim on Pandosy Street, near Sutherland Avenue, and tendered first aid to the victim’s injuries,” said Const. Jesse O’Donaghey.
“RCMP officers immediately arrived on scene prior to the arrival of emergency medical personnel. Officers quickly secured a tourniquet on one of the victim’s limbs which effectively stopped the victim’s bleeding.”
The 26-year-old Vernon man was almost unconscious and police say he was not fully co-operative with investigators. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
“Initial findings at the scene indicate the alleged serious assault took place inside an apartment complex,” said O’Donaghey.
“It appears as though the victim exited a residence searching for help.”
The investigation is ongoing and has been taken over by the Kelowna RCMP general investigation section.
“Investigators are actively following up on several leads,” said O’Donaghey.
