A Vernon man sought by police in an alleged drug trafficking case in Alberta has turned himself in.
A Canada-wide warrant had been issued last week for Thomas John Ross, 46.
“Mr. Ross voluntarily turned himself into police in Airdrie, Alta. this morning at 10:30,” said S/Sgt. Martin Schiavetta with the Calgary Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) Tuesday.
Ross is alleged to have supplied large quantities of marijuana to Alberta and has been charged with trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
In relation to the same case, 17 charges have been laid against two Alberta brothers.
Rodney Garinger, 45, from Calgary, and Kevin Garinger, 43, from Lethbridge, face charges of keeping a common gaming house, bookmaking, recording or registering bets, making bets in person, making bets over the phone, drug trafficking (marijuana), conspiracy to traffic (cocaine) and possession of the proceeds of crime.
CFSEU alleges that during a recent 40-day period, the brothers profited $65,000 on hockey and football bets.
Investigators also seized 10 pounds of marijuana, which had a street value of more than $45,000.
The investigation involving a number of agencies took almost two years to complete.
