The NDP are coming under fire as they prepare for a stop in Vernon.
Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee Liberal MLA, says questions need to be directed at the NDP as its caucus gathers here Wednesday and Thursday.
“John Horgan and his MLAs owe local families and businesses an explanation for why they want to drastically increase BC’s carbon tax,” said Foster.
“The NDP criticized our government for freezing the carbon tax, have promised to raise the carbon tax $10 per year, every year, and have even promised to end the important revenue neutrality of the B.C. carbon tax that ensures any money raised by it is passed back to British Columbians in tax cuts. The NDP want to increase the carbon tax and cancel those tax cuts to spend the money they take away from B.C. families on their own pet projects.”
Foster added that NDP policies would negatively affect the cost of shipping local agricultural products.
“Hopefully John Horgan and his MLAs will explain once and for all why they want to hurt B.C. families and B.C.’s economy with a reckless increase to B.C.’s carbon tax.”
