Public assistance is being sought to find a missing Vernon woman.
On Thursday shortly after 6 p.m, the Vernon RCMP were called to assist a local man find is common-in-law wife.
The man told police he and Johanna Frouws, had driven to the liquor store near the Vernon Square Safeway on 32nd Street.
He went into the store to purchase some beer and she waited in the car.
“When he came out of the store, Frouws was no longer in the vehicle,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.
“The vehicle was where he parked it along with the keys.”
Frouws is described as a Caucasian woman, 58-years-old, green eyes, brown hair, five-foot-seven and 128 pounds.
“The husband said there is no indication anything was wrong, and the behaviour is considered out of character for her,” said Molendyk.
“His wife’s cell phone was left behind as well.”
All attempts to find her so far have come up empty.
Anyone with information on Frouws’ whereabouts is asked to call the Vernon RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171.
