A North Okanagan volunteer organization is part of a search for a man who has gone missing while swimming.

On Sunday at about 6:50 p.m., a possible drowning of a man in Okanagan Lake, about 100 feet off shore from Watt Road in Kelowna, was reported to the RCMP.

“The man had encountered difficulty staying afloat while swimming out to his boat,” said Sgt. Wade Seversen.

“The Kelowna fire boat as well as the Vernon Search and Rescue boat attended to search for the man.”

The individual was not located and the search will continue today (Monday).

The 24-year-old man is believed to be a resident of the Surrey area and he was holidaying in Kelowna with his girlfriend.
