Vernon RCMP have one man in custody and are looking for a second in connection with a residential break-and-enter Thursday.
Police received a report of a break-in at a home in the 3600 block of 30th Avenue at 2:30 a.m.
“The caller advised that a neighbour came to her door, he was bloody and asked her to call the police as two men broke into his unit and beat him up,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.
The victim reported the suspects entered through a window, he was assaulted and received a cut over his eye.
The 48-year-old victim was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital for treatment to his injuries.
The suspects took the victim’s wallet during the robbery.
One of the suspects was described as having a goatee and a tattoo on his neck.
A man matching the description of one of the suspects was located a short time later in the downtown core.
“The suspect ran as the police approached him, but he was caught and arrested right away for robbery, break-and-enter, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and breach of an undertaking,” said Molendyk.
The 40-year-old suspect, who is well-known to police, was slated to appear in Vernon Provincial Court Thursday.
The second suspect has been identified by police but remains at large.
