The future of a French school will be decided on May 28, when the Francophone School Board of British Columbia is set to vote on its fate.
The school board held a meeting in Revelstoke on Monday, April 30. Pierre Claveau said that the number of students that were registered was low and that the board would be discussing the matter at it’s May 28 meeting.
He said the board was currently in talks with the Revelstoke School District to lease classroom space for the prospective school.
The push for a French school in Revelstoke has been ongoing for several years. Last year it looked like it was going to become a reality but when registration took place, fewer students were signed up than expected and the opening was pushed back a year, pending higher numbers.
