Water main break at Vernon intersection

Traffic is being rerouted at 43rd Street and 27th Avenue Thursday

UPDATE 8:55 A.M. THURSDAY – Traffic is being rerouted near the site of Wednesday’s water main break at 43rd Street and 27th Avenue while crews repair the break.

Flaggers are directing east and westbound traffic on 27th Avenue and traffic northbound on 43rd Street will be detoured east along 26th Avenue.

UPDATE 2:50 P.M. – City of Vernon crews have isolated the leak and the affected water main at 43rd Street and 27th Avenue will be repaired Thursday.

There is no traffic disruption but traffic will be rerouted Thursday during the repair.

“One home is currently without water, and the city is providing the homeowners with water until the repair is complete and service is restored,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, communications co-ordinator.

City of Vernon crews are dealing with a water main break at 43rd Street and 27th Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Traffic is being rerouted while crews initiate repairs.

“The extent of the failure is unknown at this time,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, the city’s communications co-ordinator.
