The Nelson Police Department received a report today from the Kootenay Lake Hospital Auxiliary that a newly acquired wheelchair valued at $1200 was missing.
It is suspected that approximately two weeks ago the wheel chair was either taken for a ‘joy ride”, used to take to someone home and not returned to the hospital, or was otherwise removed from Nelson hospital.
In a written statement from the Nelson Police Department, Cst. Jay Noppe wrote, “The selfless and caring folks of the Hospital Auxiliary volunteer countless hours, and work very hard raising money to buy items, such as this wheelchair, which benefit the needs of numerous people in our community.”
The police and hospital auxiliary are appealing for the public’s assistance in recovering the wheelchair.
If it is located or should someone know the whereabouts of the wheelchair, please contact Nelson Police Department for assistance in returning the wheelchair. Alternately, it can be dropped off directly at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
