About 170 homes in Abbotsford are still without power following last night’s powerful windstorm.

Those homes are expected to have power restored by about 4 p.m. today, according to BC Hydro.

Winds speeds of up to 84 km/h were recorded at Abbotsford Airport and caused trees to come down across some power lines.

At the peak of the storm, more than 4,500 homes were without power in Abbotsford and Mission.

No major incidents were reported, although the strong winds resulted in the collapse of the “tennis bubble” at Great West Fitness on Old Yale Road. Also, a power pole and wires came down just before 1 a.m. across the railway tracks on Harris Road, east of Bates Road, but was cleared away.
