A Surrey woman and a White Rock man were the top-prize winners in the Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation’s WinFall Lottery.
Elaine Creighton’s ticket was drawn Tuesday for the grand-prize package, which offered the choice of a South Surrey home, vehicle and $50,000 or $1.7 million cash. White Rock’s Marc Pond scored $100,000 in the early-bird draw.
Ticket-buyers’ odds were higher this year, after a slump in sales resulted in the lottery closing with fewer than two-thirds of the tickets sold. It was the first time in 16 years that the fundraiser failed to break-even.
Surrey’s Robery McKay was among 10 winners of a $5,000 Visa gift card in a draw for previous lottery supporters.
All winners will be notified within three weeks. A full winners list is to be posted online Nov. 15 at winfalllottery.ca/winners.php
