The investigation into a fatal motor vehicle accident continues in Lake Country.
On Monday at 6:36 p.m., emergency crews rushed to the scene of a collision at Highway 97, near Crystal Waters Road, in Oyama.
“Preliminary information at the scene suggests that a passenger vehicle, which had been northbound on Highway 97 north, left the roadway, down a steep embankment and came to rest on Crystal Waters Road below,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
“The injuries to the driver and sole female occupant of the vehicle proved to be fatal. Police have positively identified the woman and efforts remain underway to properly notify her family.”
The vehicle is a grey, 1997 Cadillac Seville, four-door sedan.
As part of the investigation, officers want to speak to anyone who saw the accident.
“The Lake Country RCMP are urging all witnesses to come forward with any information,” said O’Donaghey.
Anyone with information about the accident can call 250-766-2288.
Beyond the RCMP, the B.C. Coroners Service is involved in the investigation.
“Few details are being released at this time to protect its integrity,” said O’Donaghey.
