A 21-year old man was arrested in Sooke for murder on Sunday.
On Jan. 8 at about 3:30 p.m., Sooke RCMP attended a residence on Otter Point Road after receiving a call for assistance.
When officers arrived they found a deceased 53-year-old woman. The male suspect was arrested at the scene for murder.
Their relationship hasn’t been released, but the victim and the suspect were known to each other. Sooke RCMP say the suspect is known to police.
He is currently in custody pending a court appearance, the date and time which has not yet been determined. He will appear in Western Communities court.
Members of the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the Sooke RCMP, are investigating the murder.
Members of the forensic identification section were at the Otter Point house Monday conducting a forensic examination.
As of Monday, the identities of the victim or suspect have not been released.
