Ladysmith residents will get a chance to share their input on proposed changes to the Town of Ladysmith’s Zoning Bylaw two weeks from now.
Council gave first and second reading to the updated Zoning Bylaw on June 23 and scheduled a public hearing for this and related bylaws for Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Ladysmith Seniors Centre at 630 Second Ave.
If you are unable to attend the public hearing, written submissions can also be provided. If they are received by noon on Wednesday, July 9, they can be included in the public hearing agenda package, but they can still be submitted after that until the close of the public hearing. Written submissions should be sent to the Town of Ladysmith, PO Box 220, Ladysmith, BC V9G 1A2, faxed to 250-245-6411 or e-mailed to info@ladysmith.ca.
The Zoning Bylaw Project affects all properties in the Town by establishing zones and regulations for the use and the density of use of land, building and structures; regulating the siting, size and dimensions of uses, building and structures; and regulating parcel sizes, off-street parking and loading and screening and landscaping.
The Zoning Bylaw introduces new regulations affecting accessory buildings, coach house use, perimeter wall height, home-based business use, flexible live-work options in the downtown, urban agriculture, food trucks, shipping containers, large-format retail, drive-thru service access, bicycle parking, and landscaping and screening. New zones are introduced for residential use, natural parks, marine harvesting, marine conservation, agriculture and forestry uses.
