Nelson teams were the dominated force at the Revelstoke Little Bear soccer tournament on the weekend, winning five out of 11 divisions.

Revelstoke played host to 58 youth soccer teams from throughout B.C. and Alberta, and more would have come but couldn’t find accommodation in town.

“It was another excellent year for the tournament,” said organizer Alan Chell. “ Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. We heard great feedback on Revelstoke’s excellent hospitality. We’re looking forward to the 20th year next year.”

The tournament made use of almost every soccer field in town, with games at Queen Elizabeth Park, Centennial Park, Begbie View Elementary, Revelstoke Secondary School, Columbia Park Elementary and Farwell.

The Revelstoke Youth Soccer Association fielded teams in the U11 boys, U11 girls, U12 girls, U14 boys, U17 boys and U14 girls divisions. The U11 boys and U17 boys teams both captured silver medals in their respective divisions.
