The senior B Nanaimo Timbermen kept pace with a tough team, then ran circles around a weaker one.
The Acme Painting Timbermen earned a tie and a win in West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association action on the weekend at the Nanaimo Ice Centre, drawing 9-9 with the Ladner Pioneers on Saturday and then hammering the Langley Warriors 22-6 the following evening.
In the blowout, Ryan Forslund had a monster game with five goals and six assists. Jon Diplock had four goals and three assists and Blair Pinnock also had a four-goal performance. Cody Keating had two goals and five assists and Chris O’Hara and Rick Fields also scored twice each. Ryan Clark had a goal and seven assists and other scorers were Nick Agius and Jordi Bryant. James Spence had four assists and Pat Mallough was the winning goalie.
The previous day, Nanaimo sprinted to a 7-2 first-period lead over Ladner but couldn’t sustain the margin. Forslund had two goals and two assists, Clark and Fields also had two-goal games and O’Hara, Diplock and Drew Miles were other scorers.
GAME ON … The senior B Timbermen visit the North Shore Indians on Friday (May 9) in West Vancouver and the Tri-City Bandits on Saturday in Port Coquitlam.
