With one draw still to play in the Canadian Seniors Curling Championships, the women’s playoff berths are set.
After an 8-7 win over Saskatchewan’s Darlene Gillies on Friday morning at Abbotsford Recreation Centre, Alberta’s Cathy King has clinched a spot in Sunday’s final with a 9-1 record in the round robin.
The two semifinalists will be Newfoundland and Labrador’s Cathy Cunningham and Nova Scotia’s Nancy Delahunt, who has Colleen Jones throwing last rocks. Both rinks won their Thursday evening games to improve to 8-2 and seal their spots in the semi, which goes at 2 p.m. Saturday.
On the men’s side, Alberta’s Rob Armitage continues to lead the way at 8-1. Four other rinks are also in the running for playoff spots – B.C.’s Dennis Graber (7-2), Ontario’s Brian Lewis (7-3), Northern Ontario’s Rob Gordon (6-3) and Newfoundland’s Glenn Goss (6-3).
