All Blacks battle back versus Kings

Team scores three times in second half to capture major division title for Valley Ball Hockey Association

Down 1-0 at halftime of the Valley Ball Hockey Association major (U16) division finals, the All Blacks coaching staff had a good feeling.

“We were a great second half team all year long and we kind of thought the boys would come up with a great second half, which they did,” said coach Chad Boelema.

The All Blacks would score three unanswered goals to defeat the Kings 3-1 in the final, which was played on June 14 at George Preston Recreation Centre.

“We were outplayed by a very determined Kings team in the first half, but our goalie made some great saves to keep us in it.”

The game featured fast-paced and intense action with great goaltending on both ends of the floor.

The All Blacks also advance to the provincial ball hockey championships, which will be contested June 27 to June 29 and hosted by the Ridge Meadows Minor Ball Hockey Association.
