Next week’s boxing event, already chock-full of locals, added another Nanaimo fan favourite.

Dan Baxter has been added to the Quest for Glory amateur boxing card June 4 at Malaspina Theatre, announced promoter Don Arnott in a press release.

Baxter, a former football player with the Nanaimo District Islanders and V.I. Raiders, will face Danny Proulz, a Canadian Armed Forces member from Quebec, stationed in Esquimalt, in a cruiserweight bout.

“Dan Baxter is known for his very aggressive and explosivve style of boxing,” said Arnott.

The event will consist of 12 bouts, 10 featuring Nanaimo fighters.

“The fans will be treated to wall-to-wall, non-stop fights,” Arnott said. “With 12 fights, we are not planning on having any down time between fights; one after another.”

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the first fight is at 5 p.m. Tickets are $50 and there are only a few left; for ticket information, please call 250-751-3657.
