PENTICTON MURRAY GM bantam Vees won the Tier 2 side of the 46th annual Kamloops International Bantam Ice Hockey Tournament on Jan. 5.

When the Vancouver Canucks hit the ice Saturday afternoon for their Canucks for Kids Fund Super Skills competition, they will be joined by the Murray GM Penticton bantam Vees.

The Vees were invited to join the Canucks this weekend as they were chosen by B.C. Hockey, which makes the selection based on the team’s season. In Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey league play, the Vees are 10-0-1. Including tournament play, they are 37-4-2. Players from the Vees will be allowed in the dressing room and meet the players and get autographs.

The skills competition begins at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on www.canucks.com.

Players on the Vees team have been given skills that they are asked to complete during the competition. The challenges include a fastest skater contest, shooting accuracy, breakaway relay, puck control, power play and hardest shot.

Net proceeds of the event go to the Canucks for Kids Fun and the NHLPA Goals and Dreams Fund.
