Bantam Vipers slip past Chilliwack

Vernon wins 5-3 in opening game of Salmon Arm Bantam Tier 1 tournament

The Vernon Sun Valley Source for Sports Bantam Tier 1 Vipers opened up the Salmon Arm Invitational tournament with a 5-3 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs Friday morning.

Jakob Jones, Cam Moger, Colby Feist, Steel Quiring and Zack Funk scored for the Vipers to help Kobe Grant pick up the win in net. K.T. Walters, Moger and Quiring drew assists.

Vernon took on Quesnel and Okotoks, Alta. Saturday. Playoffs are today.

At the Priest Valley Arena, Kassidy Schaper-Kotter picked up the shutout as the Vernon Bantam Tier 3 Vipers blanked West Kelowna 6-0 in league play.

Jaxxon Collard led the Vipers with two goals, Owen Palfreyman and Ronac Chauhan added 1+2 and singles went to Jacob Green and Ben Reinhardt. Fraser O’Brien (2), Cody Beckner and Maddex Minard picked up assists.

In North Okanagan Midget House Super League play Friday at the Vernon Civic Arena, the Vernon Authentic Trophy and Plaque Hawks  whipped the North Okanagan Knights 9-2.

Sam Frisby led the winners with 3+3, Landen Harison added two goals and singles went to Steven Benischek, Kaden Doughty, Nick Mitchell and Seb Wenger.

Sean Howard had three assists while Dalton Stenberg and Nick Maglio shared the win in goal.

Devon Rempel and Warren Buzzel scored for the Knights.
