From the ring comes word Island Barrel Racing held its last race of the season in Coombs on the weekend, with the top riders as follows:

 

Open Sat 1st Charla Nikkels on Ella.

Senior Sat 1st Leslie Pederson on Soo.

Junior Sat 1st Hillary Turple on Allie.

PeeWee Sat 1st Shylo Madill on Stryder.

 

Open Sun 1st Charla Nikkels on Ella (Charla

had the fast times of the weekend both days

and is our IBR president).

Local riders placed as follows;

Donna Jager finished 1st in the 2D Senior class on both Saturday and Sunday.

Sue Sheppard was 1st in the 3D Senior class on both days as well as 1st in the 4D Open class on Sunday.

Page Noble (PeeWee) and Kelsey Noble from Coombs also competed all weekend.

According to IBR’s Amanda Yasinski, the 2011 IBR finals will be held Aug. 27 and 28 at the Comox Valley Exhibition in Courtenay where contestants will be competing for over $1000 in prize money and 2011 champion titles.
