The Barriere Giants U10 had the week off, no games only practices.

The Giants will be playing in a Clearwater tournament June 3 and 4. For most players it will be their first ball tournament and the excitement is overwhelming. Good luck Giants.

The Barriere Bruisers defeated the Kamloops Nova in a seven inning game last Wednesday. The teams have split their games this season and will play District play downs in Kamloops on June 17 and 18.

The winner of the District earns the right to attend the U16C Provincials in Burnaby July 7-9.

Bruisers’ pitcher Mackenzie Ransome played with the Kamloops Vendetta U19 team in South Surrey this past weekend. Mackenzie helped the Kamloops ladies win Bronze. Kathleen Janis plays regularly with the Vendetta. She is their starting centerfielder, anchoring their outfield defence, and bats 3rd. Good job Kathleen.

Barriere will be hosting the U14 Boys Provincials July 7-9 and has offered to host the U16 boys Provincials the following weekend, July 14-16. The U16 tournament is in jeopardy of being cancelled as no other bids have been made to host.

Unfortunately, Softball BC has decided not to award the U16 Provincials to Barriere and has cited a lack of capable umpires in our District as the reason.

Check out Barriere Minor Ball’s facebook page for our schedule of upcoming games and make sure you come down to the ballpark to cheer on our teams.

Play ball barriere.
