BCHL extra: Van Allen heading home to join Seawolves

Alaska native Chase Van Allen, an Alberni Valley Bulldogs graduate, is joining the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves.

Alberni Valley Bulldogs defenceman Chase Van Allen is heading home to begin his collegiate hockey career, signing on with the University of Alaska-Anchorage.

Van Allen is an Anchorage native who spent two years with the Bulldogs.

He served as one of Alberni Valley’s assistant captains last year. His seven goals and 25 assists for 32 points put him inside the top 10 for scoring among BCHL blueliners. He added another eight points in 14 playoff games, including one game-winning goal.

I am very happy that Chase gets the opportunity to play NCAA division one hockey right in his own backyard,” said Bulldogs head coach and general manager Kevin Willison. “Chase was a big part of Alberni’s community, volunteering whenever he could and was also a big help in the Bulldogs In School Van Allen took home two team awards following the conclusion of the 2012-13 season, winning the Best Defenceman Award and the Humanitarian Award for his outstanding work in the

community.

He joins a Seawolves program that includes former BCHLers Alex Gellert, Chris Crowell, Andrew Pettittt, Chris Williams, Ben Matthews and Scott Warner.
