Bennett-Awad short-listed for Canadian eventing team

Langley's Hawley Bennett has previously represented Canada, including at both 2004 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games

Hawley Bennett-Awad is one of six riders named to the short list for the 2014 Canadian national eventing team.

The Langley rider — who lives and trains horses in California — was named to the short list for a fifth straight year, along with her horse, Gin N Juice.

The rider/horse combinations are selected based on their results at CCI/CCIO/CH three star and four star competitions between Jan. 1 and Nov. 4, 2013. Bennett-Awad’s top two performances came in Kentucky in April and France in November.

The 36-year-old has previously represented Canada on the international stage, including at the 2004 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games. She also helped Canada win silver at the 2011 Pan American Games.
