Big O-lineman taken in CFL draft

A former Football Nanaimo and Barsby Bulldogs minor player, Matt O’Donnell, is all grown up and ready for the pros.

O’Donnell, a 6-foot-9, 310-pound offensive lineman, was chosen 15th overall by the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday in the CFL draft.

O’Donnell is a two-time All-Canadian with the Queen’s Golden Gaels and was one of only two Canadian Interuniversity Sport players invited to U.S. college football’s Shrine Bowl.
